Honduras Mission

For the past five years, St. Paul's, in cooperation with the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras, has worked with the people of Chaguite Oriente and surrounding communities.  We have initiated a public health program that includes a water delivery system and a water tower with chlorinated water and constructed a school and a church building to be home for human development initiatives.

A full update on this year's trip will be coming soon!

Prayers for Santos and Fernando

Friends in Honduras, Santos Sierra and Fernando, a teenager from the village of Zarzal, were in a serious motorcycle accident on May 8.   Santos is a Lay Pastor for the villages of Chaguite and Tablones and neighbor to the compound where St. Paul's mission teams have stayed while working in Honduras.
$800 was collected last Sunday at St. Paul's and immediately sent to Honduras via a nonprofit to help pay surgery and hospital costs, and to support Santos and Fernado's families.  Further support will be needed; if you'd like to help, please give a check made out to "Honduras Hope" to Jeff Mello, or to Julie Starr and George Coggeshall who will be representing the Honduras mission team at the ministry fair on 5/23.
Please keep Santos and Fernando and their families in your prayers.

Recent and Past Honduras Trips

In the summer of 2003, the rector at St. Paul's, George Chapman, and his wife Margie visited the Deanery of El Paraiso in southeastern Honduras. With the guidance of members of the local lay and religious communities, a calling was discerned in Chaguite, a remote rural community located in a mountainous area about 50 miles southeast of the capital city, Tegucigalpa. Made up of approximately fifty families, Chaguite has no electricity and limited sanitation.

The summer of 2008 marks the fifth year of St. Paul's parishioners working with the local people in Honduras to improve their lives. See pictures from the 2008 trip, hot off the press below!

Photos from previous trips are also available. See a slide show of the 2006 visitand see photos from the 2005 visit. For additional background and information on previous trips please see the attached files.
