Parishes, like all institutions, need money to carry out their work.
1. Remember that your pledge matters.
Everyone’s pledge helps St. Paul's to carry out its mission. Regardless of the size of your pledge, your support of St. Paul's is about nurturing your spiritual home and deepening your relationship with God.
2. Pledge a percentage of your income.
The Bible holds a tithe, 10% of income, as a standard for giving to God. For many of us, though, tithing is a difficult place to begin. One way to begin pledging is to start with what a tithe would represent and reduce it by 1% at a time, until you arrive at a number that feels both challenging and attainable.
3. Be intentional in your pledging.
Intentional giving means giving as a response to God's generosity in our lives. Another way to plan your pledge is to determine the percentage of your income you pledged this year, and increase it by 1, 5, or 10%.
4. Pledging makes it easier to take tax deductions.
Your contributions to St. Paul’s are tax-deductible. At the beginning of each year, St. Paul’s provides a receipt for your contributions during the previous year.
5. Help us plan for the future by making a pledge.
Committing to an annual pledge allows the Vestry to budget our programs in a fiscally responsible way.
6. Pledge on Ingathering Sunday, November 20th.
When you receive your pledge card, we ask that you prayerfully consider your commitment to St. Paul’s.
7. If your financial situation changes, you can change your pledge.
Unexpected events in our lives can alter our incomes. You can always change your pledge, either up or down, if your financial situation changes.
8. Pay in way that’s easy for you.
Pay weekly, monthly or quarterly. Put your pledge in the plate, mail it, or set St. Paul’s up in your online bill-paying. Use checks or envelopes so we can keep records.
9. Keep payments consistent.
Pledge with the same name as you use on your checks.
10. Use this year’s envelopes.
Envelopes have a different number each year. Use this year’s envelopes to help our record-keeping.
