Walk for Hunger May 2
St. Paul's has a long tradition of supporting Project Bread as many parishioners have walked and many more have pledged to support the walkers in its annual fundraiser, the Walk for Hunger, which is a 20-mile trek from Boston to Newton and back again. The country's oldest continual pledge walk and the largest one-day fundraiser to alleviate local hunger, the walk raises money to provide food for Boston-area food programs, including the Brookline Food Pantry housed at St Paul's.
On May 2 we are inviting all who are able and willing to start the walk in solidarity with Project Bread from the Boston Common and walk to St Paul's just in time for the 10:00 am worship service (about 4 miles). Some of us may wish to continue on for the remainder of the walk. And others will be just as happy to contribute in other ways to this effort, especially by supporting the walkers with pledges. It'd be a wonderful way to start a Sunday morning: exercise on a spring day, fellowship with parishioners of all ages, and active support for an effective and important organization that directly feeds the hungry in our neighborhoods. Registration materials will be at church this Sun., April 18, and this will be your chance to commit to walking or pledge to support those who participate in the 42nd Annual Walk for Hunger. For more information or to download your own registration materials and pledge sheets visit Project Breads website at www.projectbread.org.
